Buying a Security Gate in Tokai — What’s Included
Tokai’s larger properties often have more than one access point to secure — front door, side gate, garden entrance — and wider openings than the average townhouse. When you buy a security gate from Xpressdor, we measure each opening on your property and fabricate every gate to match, rather than offering a single standard size.
The price you’re quoted includes the gate, professional fitting, and a warranty. There’s no separate installation cost to plan for afterwards.
What We See Most Often in Tokai
Tokai sits against the greenbelt, with much of the suburb bordering Tokai Forest and the Table Mountain National Park boundary. Properties along that edge, and those backing onto the greenbelt corridors that run toward Dennendal and Steenberg, have a rear boundary that no street lighting reaches. Rear and side access points on those homes matter more than the front door, and they are the openings most often left unprotected.
The second pattern is size. Tokai plots are generally larger than those in Claremont or Wynberg, and homes built here from the 1970s onward tend to have wide stacking or sliding doors opening onto the garden. Those openings are frequently too wide for an off-the-shelf gate, which is why we fabricate to the measured span rather than fitting the nearest stock size and packing out the gap.
Many Tokai homes also have a separate garage or outbuilding set back from the house, plus a domestic or garden entrance on the side elevation. Quoting all of those in one visit is usually cheaper per gate than doing them one at a time, and it means the whole property is finished in a single fitting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you quote for multiple gates on one property?
Yes, and on Tokai properties it is the more common request. Front, side, garden and outbuilding entrances are usually quoted together in a single visit.
Can you gate a wide patio or stacking door opening?
Yes. Wide openings are the most frequent reason Tokai homeowners need a custom gate rather than a stock size, and we build to the measured span.
How much does a security gate cost to buy?
Cost depends on opening size, material, and locking mechanism. Call 021 712 0484 for a free quote.
Do you offer slam lock gates?
Yes, slam lock gates auto-lock the moment they’re closed and are a popular option for family homes.
Is fitting included when I buy?
Yes, professional installation is included in every quote.
Do you provide a warranty?
Yes, covering structure, coating, and locking mechanism.
